The 180 Pro Myth?!

Is the 180 professional a myth? A player needs to have a reasonable expectation of making a living in order to be considered a professional.  Might it only be those living in lost cost countries that can become pro?  Is even that possible with today’s “standard” winrates? Can backed horses possibly do better than break even?  If 180’s are not profitable why should any other field be?  What is the winrate and variance of mtts?

Is there an optimal rake % that might encourage sustainability and profitability of the field?
