Maps and Borders as Consensus Mechanisms

Borders such as national boundaries might have many reasons and uses relation to the fundamental wants of a particular group, tribe, or nation etc. It might be then that the revealation of such would be helpful in understand that which creates and holds up the stability of a certain region or trade network, or that which is causing such an equilibrium to fail. Without a consensus about a particular border there cannot be said to be an equilibrium, and also without an equilibrium there cannot be said to be a consensus about a particular border.

No doubt then borders and divisions on maps have much to do with the geophysical structures of a given region and especially in relation to that which arises wealthy nations and that which might destabilize them.
